“Our MG team is very excited about the MG U9. We are working hard on the fact that customers can pronounce their UTE for the adventure they planned,” said Peter Ciao, CEO of MG Motor Australia, in an explanation.
“So far we have met with a number of companies, including HSP and Autopacific and have more potential suppliers.
“We know that the Australians like to modify their Ute and the MG U9 will be ready for every plan for adventure families. We can hardly wait to start the MG U9 this year.”
According to the HSP director Massih Aimaq, the company is pleased to work with MG – especially in connection with an influx of new utes from China and Korea.
“We had already done some preliminary work on the vehicle platform, so it made sense to drive the conversation commercially – especially since we have worked with some of the most important MG team members in the past,” he said.
“HSP products will be ready before the official start of the MG U9, with already completed prototypes and test adjustments and only slight changes remain.”
The HSP products that are available for the U9 include an electrical “roll-R cover”, a conductor-load rack, a sliding loader and a manual roller cover that has not yet been published. The company says that it will not offer its tail flap Assist and Central Locking Kit for the U9, since it will have these systems by default.
Similarly, the half-integrated Sail tarpaulin of the U9 means an after-market-sporty sport.
According to Masood Aimaq, HSP research and development director, the U9 is a unique challenge in the development and adaptation of its existing accessories.
“There are so many unique elements in the MG Ute that we had to visit the drawing board several times again to ensure that our products not only complement the appearance of the vehicle, but also integrate seamlessly into the use,” he said.
“We have developed functions such as Factory Remote and Central Locking, and we will offer something that belongs to us via the HSP 4 × 4 -app for the Roll -R cover.”
It is not the first time that HSP has worked with a vehicle manufacturer in Australia. Before that, it worked with Nissan to develop dealer-fit accessories for its Navara good and had its electric scooter cover for the limited Navara Black Edition standard for the limited Navara edition.
As far as the other brands are concerned, Arb is known for its wide range of bullbars and vehicle protection accessories, while Autopacific produces a number of towing and loading products for various vehicles.
While MG has already sold utes in other markets, the U9 – a twin of the upcoming Terron 9 of Saic Motor Brand LDV – will be its first Ute in Australia.
