Leclerc shines in Monaco when Ferrari exceeded both Friday meetings

From DCB editorialPresent May 23, 2025

Charles Leclerc landed for the Monaco Grand Prix on Friday on Friday and described a dominant day for Ferrari at his home race. He set the fastest time of 1m 11.355S in FP2 in front of Oscar Piatri for only 0.038s. Lewis Hamilton continued Ferrari’s residence with the third best time.

The session was interrupted by two red flags – for the first time by Isack Hadjar, which eliminated the barrier at Nouvelle Chicane and later plunged from Piatri in Sainte. Both drivers were able to return to the boxes and continue the curriculum vitae.

Fernando Alonso briefly held the fastest time before Leclerc’s improvements in the late session. Lando Norris and Liam Lawson rounded off the top 5, while Max Verstappen, who had to deal with car problems and once repelled, had a subdued 10th place ahead of Yuki tsunoda.

Remarkable incidents included a further crash for Hadjar, a network penalty for Ollie Bearman for overtaking under red flags and the continued frustration for Verstappen with traffic and car performance. The teams are now preparing for the critical qualifications on Saturday on the narrow Monaco Street Circuit.
