Oscar Piatri dominated the Spanish Grand Prix to win his fifth win of the season, to extend his championship lead and to lead McLaren to a 1-2 place in front of the team-mate Lando Norris. While Piatri and Norris stormed in advance, Verstappen lost third place against Charles Leclerc and then got involved in a heated scrap with George Russell. After two incidents, Verstappen received a time penalty of 10 seconds, which ultimately downgraded him to the finish line.
Behind the podium – Piatri, Norris and Leclerc – Russell took fourth place, and Nico Hulkenberg delivered an outstanding driving after the 15th start to reach fifth place. Lewis Hamilton was sixth for Ferrari, followed by Isack Hadjar In the seventh and Pierre Gasly in the eighth.
