alpine will return to the Australian market, the one that A390 Electric fastback.
The TRI engine A390 is wearing a high-ranking, five-door body in the vein of a Cupra Tavascan or Ford Mustang Mach-E overnight, but Alpine does not refer to it as SUV.
Instead, the French performance brand in Renault says that it is a “racing car in a suit”, and the A290 Electric Hot Hatch, which is already offered for sale in Europe, is expected for the A110 sports car overnight and expected in 2026.
So far, only the A390 has been confirmed for Australia.

“We are proud to announce the return of the legendary Alpine Performance brand in Australia,” said Glen Seley, General Manager of Alpine Australia.
“We estimate that there is great interest in the future plans of this vehicle and the alpine in Australia. However, prices, times and specifications are announced in more detail in the local arrivals.”
In Europe, orders are not opened by the fourth quarter of 2025. We only expect the A390 here at the end of 2026 or possibly 2027.
At least in Europe it is offered in GT and GTS variants. Here are your competitive specifications:
GT | GTS | |
---|---|---|
Drive train | A front electric motor, two rear electric motors | A front electric motor, two rear electric motors |
Performance | 295 kW | 345 kW |
Torque | 650 Nm | 808nm |
battery | 89 kWh lithium ion | 89 kWh lithium ion |
0-100 km/h | 4.8 seconds | 3.9 seconds |
Top speed | 200 km/h | 220 km/h |
Depending on the tire, the area is between 520 km and 555 km in the WLTP cycle. Alpine says that these figures are subject to homologation.
The A390 offers 11 kW bidirectional alternating current charging processes with 22 kW bidirectional alternating current load optional. In France, a vehicle-to-grid capacity (V2G) is offered in France.
With a DC output at up to 190 kW, it can be charged quickly, and the A390 has a prerequisite for batteries and a heat pump.
A tri motor setup is rare even under performance EVs. However, it enables the A390 to offer active torque vectoring system from Alpine.
Alpine explains this system “is based on a difference in the longitudinal forces between the two wheels on the same rear axle, especially by more torque on the outer wheel”.
The result? “Expert dynamics and mobility, which partially compensate for the sluggishness associated with the size and weight of this larger vehicle,” says Alpine.
The system corrects the slip difference between the right and left wheels and adapts the torque, which was sent to each of the wheels to correct subtract or over control.
“It makes it possible to cross the borders to corners by providing a surprising feeling of lightness and acting as a rear differential,” explains Alpine.
An overtaking function delivers up to 10 seconds of additional performance, although a charging time of 30 seconds is required to get the full “boost” back.
Five drive modes are standard: saving, normal, sport, personal and track. There are also five levels of regenerative braking, the highest one is a one-pedal drive mode.
Alpine also worked with acoustics and musicians to develop two different artificial drive noises: sport and a “lighter and smoother” daily. Specific sounds accompany the start control and boost functions.
The weight distribution is an alleged 49:51 front/back.
This is how the A390 measures:

Alpine plays the French of his A390, which is built in France, with electric motors and battery cells and modules that are generated in France, and with a devialet sound system and exclusive tires, which are delivered by Michelin.
There is a coupé-like roof line, while Alpine calls the unusual cluster of illuminated triangles at the front “cosmic dust” and says that it “causes a comet that penetrates the atmosphere”.
Further fragmented triangles can be found in the back, with an alpine logo being placed with backlight. Both front and rear ends have thin light rods.
There is a little Easter egg in the corner of the windshield: the silhouette of the Alpine A110.
Inside there is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with four selected views and a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen.
The latter has a portrait orientation and is angled towards the driver. It is carried out on Android Automotive and has been integrated via Google integrated with a number of embedded Google apps and more via the Google Play Store. The wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard.
Google Maps also has an EV route planner that takes into account the route, the load level, the battery temperature and real-time energy consumption in order to calculate the best route.
The climate control can be set through both the screen control and a number of physical keys below.
There is a push button equipment selection switch on the center console, while the drive mode is on the steering wheel.
Also on the steering wheel is a blue button inspired in Formula 1 to control the regenerative brake and red control for the start control and overhaul.
The following equipment offers the base -gt:

The Alpine brand was last offered here in Australia from 2018 to 2022. The only product, both here and worldwide, was the petrol engine A110 sports car that was discontinued because it did not meet the regulations of the side effects.
Alpine reinvents himself as an EV brand after unveiling the Renault 5 E-Tech A290 Hot Hatch last year.
