There is always so often a vehicle that opposes all chances of winning and breaks the shape completely. The Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet 2016 is exactly that. This special example is one of only 99 ever and has appeared for sale in prestige imports in Miami. But to really understand why this unique setting of the G-car has such a bonus, you have to look beyond the fiber fiber of chrome, leather and carbon to understand the Landauet connection.
100+ years of LandaUlete Erbe
A Landaulet is a relapse body style for the days of coach-built state cars of the early 20th century. Picture Royalty, dictators, heads of state and prominent figures in the government wave through half -open roofs on crowds while they are chauffeur in the back. It is essentially a limousine that was built for the drivers for the ultra powerful, with a convertible rear section and a firm roof in advance. Mercedes-Benz has a famous story with this format and returns to models such as the Benz 25/45 HP from 1910, the famous 600 Pullman in the 1960s and in recent times with the Maybach 62s in 2008.
While the models mentioned above are all based on stately cars when Mercedes and Maybach achieved the Landaulet G650 in 2015, the result was a really absurd contradiction of luxury with military ability and off-road capabilities. The G-Class finally has military roots that return to 1979.
Mercedes-Maybach G650 performance
Under the bonnet you will find a 6.0-liter V12 engine with a Twin turbo, which is handmade from AMG and produces 630 hp and £ 738 pound-foot torque. This engine also has a duty in the Pagani Huayara Hypercar. Despite a weight of 6,500 pounds, the performance for such an animal machine is still lively, with 60 miles per hour in 5.9 seconds. The top speed can only be 112 miles per hour, but where a G-car really shines, it is not from the sidewalk.
With the G650, however, Mercedes went one step further with portal axes and massive all-terrain tires and 17.7 inch ground clearance (standard G class has almost 10 inches GC); Essentially transplanted to this Maybach from the G500 4 × 4². While the G with its locking diffs, a transfer case with a low range and high-tech all-wheeler systems is immensely capable of, you should be careful with the 22-inch rims on the G650 Landaulet.
